Be careful, not all plants that seem to be consumable, absolutely safe for the body. There are some plants that can make poisoning when it enters the body. In the body of the plant, some have toxins which may be deadly. Know them and do not make them as food.
Here are some plants around us that should not be tried for consumption =
- Cassava rubber or Ceara rubber tree.
The plant is scientifically named Manihot glaziovii, unlike most cassava plants. Inside there is a stronger cyanide content and can not be neutralized. Consume it can trigger poisoning and deadly. Avoid this cassava variant when shopping in the market.
- Amethyst flowers.
The flowers look quite beautiful. But in amethyst, there is a tropane alkanoid compound that endangers the body if it is swallowed. Because of the danger, amethyst has another name as the “trumpet devil” flower. Amethyst is more suitable to function as an ornamental plant.
- Castor oil plant.
Part of this plant that is dangerous is on the seeds. Plant with the scientific name Ricinus communis has a deadly ricin compound. In other types such as jatropha, have a poisonous protein called curcin. Both compounds are included in toxalbumin toxic category. Both are able to clot blood, making severe digestive inflammation, and trigger kidney failure.
Maybe this plant is rarely heard. Its existence is easy to find in Northeastern Australia, which is also easy to find in Maluku. Just by touching it, the fine hairs that stick to the body can poison your skin. Furthermore, toxins trigger itching, nosebleeds, and other fatality issues.
