The rainy season, coupled with flooding conditions in some areas makes a lot of flu or influenza going on. Some people avoid it with flu vaccines to cope with influenza. In addition to vaccines, vitamin D consumption has proven to be able to make the disease away. Even vitamin D is also claimed to be able to prevent the emergence of acute respiratory tract infections.
It is concluded from the results of research conducted by the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University. The studies look at the fact that a lot of flu or influenza occurs when the rainy season and sunlight exposure on the human body are reduced. As a result, the amount of vitamin D in the blood and the body decreases to a low level.
To overcome the deficiency of vitamin D, the way is clear with a lot of basking in the morning sun or consuming vitamin D.
Reported by Metrotvnews site, Adrian Gombart, Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics who led the study at OSU said that =
“Vitamin D has effects on the immune system. It also helped respond to bacteria and viruses. Not only the flu virus but also others.”
Countries with low sunlight exposure such as the U.S., Europe, and Canada, 60% of the people proved more having vitamin D deficiency.
Especially for the elderly, because their body’s ability to absorb vitamin D reduced 20%.
The solution is to consume supplements containing vitamin D each day, in order to increase immunity to the virus that causes the flu or influenza disease.
